Another article that caught my attention. It is taken from page A8 of today's My Paper newspaper. The writer is a senior vice-president of the SPH marketing division and the GM of SPH NewMedia for Zapcode. I'm not going to post the whole article because it's too long. Just the important parts only.

Have you ever wondered why we tend to be more polite with total strangers then we are with our own family?

Think back the last time you accidentally bumped into a passer-by. I wouldn't be surprise if you had said something like, "I'm sorry, please excuse me."
Now think back to the time when you accidentally collided into your child/parent at home. I wouldn't be surprise at all if you had sternly retorted with "Cant you see where you're going?"

If you're saying ti yourself. "Yeah, it's true", you're not alone.

It would seem at first that these reaction are totally normal, but when you need only look a silver below the surface to realise that if we can be so polite to people we don't even know, how much more we should be considerate and show courtesy to the people who are closest to us.

But why do we react the way we do? Is it familiarity that breeds contempt? Is it an ingrained unconscious habit to take thing too much for granted at home? Or is it just something that's intrinsic in our culture?

Then there is a story heard by the writer some years ago.

A professor stood before his philosophy class with some items in front of him.

When the class began, he picked up a very large and empty jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that is was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the student again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box sand and poured it into the jar Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The student responded with a unanimous "yes".

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling into the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor. "I want you to recognise that this jar represent your life. The golf balls represent the important things - your family, your health, your children, your friends, your passion - the kind of stuff that if all else was lost and only these remained, your life would be still be full.

"These pebbles are the other things that matter, like your job, your house, your car.

"The sand is everything else - the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first, there will be no room for the pebbles or the golf balls."

You know, the same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small things, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the elements that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Set aside time for your medical check-ups. Help out at a charitable institution. Take your spouse out to dinner.

Don't worry. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the hinge on that cupboard door.

Take care of the golf balls first; the rest is just sand.

I find this story interesting in our hi-tech world.

    Tomato Story

A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft.
The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test.

'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you
the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start.

The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'.

'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means
you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.'

The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10
in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg
    tomato crate.
He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours,

he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times,

    and returned home with $60.

The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go
everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled
    everyday.

Shortly, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of
    delivery vehicles.

5 years later, the man is one of the biggest food retailers in the US
He started to plan his family's future, and decided to have a life
    insurance.

He called an insurance broker, and chose a protection plan.
When the conversation was concluded the broker asked him his email.
The man replied,'I don't have an email.'
The broker answered curiously, 'You don't have an email, and yet have
succeeded to build an empire. Can you imagine what you could have been if
you had an e mail?!!' The man thought for a while and replied, 'Yes, I'd
be an office boy at Microsoft!'

    *Moral of the story

    Moral 1
Internet is not the solution to your life.

    Moral 2
If you don't have Internet, and work hard, you can be a millionaire.

Yesterday was at Cafe Del Mar with colleagues from Helipad and some other people. Suppose to be a tanning & volleyball session but the ongoing rain stopped it. Most of the drinks and food we had is on the house..

Last wed was at Double O with Gerald n his friends. It was the most interesting night in my entire clubbing life. Surely its gonna be going into my record book. Never really had alot of booze. Not to the usual amount i used to have. But still this is what happened that particular night. Bought a jug of Gin tonic while Gerald ordered whiskey green tea. Before we finish our drinks, his friend bought any round of the exact drink. Went over for more drinks when my friend Remy reached. We had Jager bomb first. Then follow by jug of Bourbon coke then 2 shots of Tequilla and more Bourbon coke. After this round went for toilet break n some roaming. Went back to find Remy after the break to have 1 more shot of Tequilla n more Bourbon coke & my Gin tonic. After this round of drink i went into hibernation mode. Think its aroud 2am at that time. I simply cant remember alot of thing after that. My friend said we had some talk at the sofa and she said i told her i was emo. Another said that i went to talk to his friend and do a tissue flower for her and i was very shy when he asked me to dance with his friend. I cant rem how i get out from double o & head to Phuture with Vel, Ling and Leon. When we reach Phuture i can only rem 2 things. They went to the dance floor while i walked to bar 2 and then went back to find them and after it ended saw lynn and her friends at bar 1. Manage to talk to her & get some water there. Nothing is saved in my memory other than this 2 things that happened in Phuture. Even for the first time meeting with Andrea. She said that we still shook hand with each other.. How did i got home was also unclear. Only know that me, Vel Leon were sharing cab & i was the last to alight.
This wek Gerald still asked me to club. No more clubbing for me for this month except this coming Sun because its PVD. Maybe next session will be at first week of August.

Had my hair colour changed again before going to Double O. This time gonna be the last. This pic show the current colour and taken when i still can rem what i was doing.

Overall i like the show along with the casting. Dude(Jim Sturgess) & babe(Kate Bosworth). Such a great combination.

No clubbing for me this week. Have been heading to club on every wed the past 4 weeks and i think its very unhealthy. Have already cutted down on clubbing since i started working but i think its becos i have been working for the past 7 weekends that's why i will want to club on wed. NO. I must stop for this week. Gonna stayed home and finish up my assignments & project. Tml m heading to Monsoon Adcademy to have my hair cut/dye by their senior stylist. Gonna be their hair model. All credit goes to Kerson. This is gonna be the 2nd in a week that i'm dying my hair. I cant believe. Have yet to upload my hair pic from the previous colouring. Still waiting for Kian to send me those pic.
